Wow!! I guess it has been a while.. I have alot to talk about though. First, and the most obvious KENYA!!!! It was so great. I truely felt at home there. I have to say Into Abbas Arms was my favorite part. Everyone asks if there were a hundred children i wanted to bring home but there wasnt, There was only one. Newton is 7 years old and he has only been at IAA for about a year. His mom died and i dont know anything aout his dad. I fell in love with him. because of the tough adoption laws in Kenya there is really no way of being able to bring him home so will be writing to him alot and helping in any way i can from here.
The slum was interesting. In some ways it is exactly like the pictured show the slums to be.poor, dirty, and hungry. There was open sewage every wear. and lost, homeless children. However, I saw most of the people as happy. They dont know what they don't have. The entire time i was in Kenya i never had 1 person be less than kind to me or anyone else on the team.
The game reserve was awesome!! Lots of Zebras, they became uncool because there were so many. A few herds of Elephants, Lions, lots of water buffalo, gazelle, dobies..a few hyenas. It was amazing. God has created such a huge world that we dont see in America.
Over all my opinion of Kenya is ...everyone should see it once or twice.. I do want to go back but probably under different circumstances...someday!!
